My spooky trees water color painting depicts a sunrise through the forest. I used complimentary colors for a lighter value. I also learned how to paint from the background first, using light colors to the foreground. My main art elements include color and value. For design elements I used proportion and scale to illustrate the trees in the distance. This is important because it shows the feeling of a peaceful moment, as well as the dreamy composition.

This dreamtime painting made with a acrylics, depicts the emotion I feel after I wake up from a dream. Iused abstract dream images to create the emotion of having hundreds of thoughts rush to my head only to be forgotten and lost once I wake up. I used complimentary colors to make a meaningful composition, filling all of the blank spaces. I learned to make every mark intentional adding more significance to the piece overall. By using the design elements of movement and pattern I am able to tell a story through my painting. The use of color and shape were two very prominent art elemnts within my piece as well. This is important because through all these skills, art and design elements I am able to capture the feeling of not being able to remember a dream. I found this ironic that the type of art itself is dreamtime and my painting is describing the sensation after a dream.
In my block print I used a finalized, carved block and various ink colors including red, purple, pink and black to create a picture. I made a rose to express many different layers using only accuarte big shapes. Another technique I learned consisted of using the back of the block to depict white elments in the picture, or in other words negative space. The variation in carvings created a sense of value. Additionally, color is another main art element present because it brings out the true shape of the rose. This is important because it proves that anything can be illustrated using only big shapes once a piece of art is simplified down to the basics.
In my pen and ink drawing I created a picture of a rose by only representing the big shapes. Getting used to the ink and pen was a challenge in itself. After I unsterstood this new tool, I focussed on using value to describe the surface accurately. I also developed a new skill in using the different line styles including stippling, contour lines, and cross hatching. Another main art element used was line, due to the various line styles illustrated to depict variation in value. This drawing is important because it proves that you can display something beauty by only using big shapes.
In my portrait painting I used compliemtary watercolors to contrast the different features in my face. One of the biggest skills i used was accurately using proportion to create a convincing face. Also, in order to depict the illusion of three dimensions, I used highlights, relative size and value. It was very important to start painting with washes and then move to details later. Color and value are major art elemts used in this piece. I think the complimentary colors really bring out the individual details of my face such as my eyes, eyebrows and lips.
In my macro still life painting I used a variation in many different shades of purple and pink. This piece is a painting of a close up flower photo. Through the process of painting this flower I learned the importance of color and that darker colors make things appear closer, jut as light colors appear further away. I also noticed that by outline or highlighting parts of the flower it makes a destination between each petal. Value, color and texture were huge elements present in my painting. The texture of the center of the flower gives it dimension and the different colors give the painting a realistic aspect. This painting helps display life from a close perspective. Even in a painting, we can illustrate a living organism through the different skills and art elements. My water color painting uses various shades of water colors to portray a collection of leaves. While painting this piece, I learned how to paint in layers by starting with the lighter colors first and building from there. Also, I learned that in order to emphasis the white in the painting, I can use the white of the paper. Background color is made by either using brush water, or a mix of blue and black to make a gray. I used various art elements including color, value and texture. My goal was to focus and create the most accurate painting possible based on my photo. The texture was difficult because I had to be very patient in layering each color by lightest to darkest. This painting shows a great amount of still life. It expresses something once living and in the process of drying out and dying. My one point perspective hall drawing was made by using a vanishing point, a ruler and my pencil. I shaded and bended elements of my artwork with my finger. I based this piece off of a picture I took of this exact hallway. Value plays a huge role in this particular project because it helps depict relative distance as well as light and shadow. Another skill used was ensuring that all lockers, lights, doors, etc. were illustrated as accurately as possible. The lines in this drawing lead your eye from one area in the composition to another. This shows dimension in the picture as well as creating the illusion of three dimensions. This composition in particular also represents eternal time time because a building will always stay the same no matter what time of day because the inside doesn't fluctuate.
My individual drawing is different from the triptych drawing because my personal piece focuses more on proportion and scale. While the main design elements in the triptych include unit of harmony and balance. These are both essential so that the triptych is viewed as one whole drawing, rather than focusing on just one angle at a time.
This is my one point perspective room drawing in which I used a pencil and a ruler to create movement in my drawing. Out of desire to create something unique I decided to draw a chandelier in the room and my funiture was then inspired based off of the chandelier. Through this process of drawing my room, I learned how to correctly use a vanishing point in order to make everything proportional. I also showed relative space by using increasing and decreasing size and overlap. The main art elements in my piece are line and value because value gives my drawing dimension and the angle of the lines are essential. This is important because it displays how distinct and precise rooms can be. My drawing was very simple, but even looked complex on paper due ti the details I added for decoration.
